Eddington 100 years later

The year of 2019 will mark the 100th anniversary of the experiment that confirmed the Theory of General Relativity. This experiment had one of its main stages in Principe island, with the joint expedition of the Royal Astronomical Society and the Royal Society led by Arthur Eddington durin the solar eclipse of 29th May 1919. The other stage was in Sobral, Brazil. The observations made were a relevant milestone in the History of Science and fundamental to the scientific development that followed.

It is intended that these celebrations include a series of initiatives, involving the population of São Tome and Principe and the international community. This project shall constitute the cornerstone to create a historical and scientific legacy in Sao Tome and Principe.
