Restaurants in São Tomé

Most restaurants in São Tomé are concentrated in the Água-Grande district. The vast majority of meals are based on fish, given that we are a country surrounded by the sea, with a coastline rich in both the quantity and quality of fish available. At the Cacau restaurant, traditional gastronomic evenings featuring music and dance are held every Thursday, showcasing a variety of dishes typical of the islands. There is also a culinary workshop held at the famous Roça São João in Angolares, where you’re sure to enjoy an explosion of flavors.

The island of Príncipe has its own distinctive cuisine, such as funji maguita and molho no fogo, among other mouthwatering culinary specialties. Here, tourists can sample the island’s diverse cuisine during their stay at one of the local restaurants—especially in the capital—or enjoy a fusion of flavors at the restaurants within the local hotels.
